DRONE PHOTOGRAPHY & FILMING IN HAY-ON-WYE

AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY HAY‑ON‑WYE

Professional drone photography and aerial video for property, tourism, festivals, events, farms, estates, construction and commercial productions around Hay-on-Wye and the Welsh Borders.

The town, River Wye, festival sites and surrounding countryside all create different operating conditions, so each flight is planned around the exact location and the views the project actually needs.

Regular work can extend from Hay town centre and the Brecon Road festival area to Clyro, Glasbury, Talgarth and rural properties on both sides of the Wales–England border.

AERIAL COVERAGE BUILT AROUND THE LOCATION

aerial photo of property in wales
Town-centre property and businesses

Hay’s compact centre can be busy with pedestrians, roads and private property. The requested angle and take-off position are checked before a particular shot is promised.

Festival and event sites

Temporary structures, crowds, vehicles and production activity can change the flight plan completely. Useful aerials may be captured during setup, a quieter operational period or another agreed window.

River Wye and rural locations

Riverbanks, paths, trees, wildlife, livestock and land access can all affect where the pilot can operate. A map pin is especially useful for countryside sites.

Property, farms and estates

Aerial stills can explain boundaries, access, outbuildings, neighbouring fields and the relationship between a site and the wider border countryside more clearly than ground photographs alone.

Ground and aerial filming together

Interviews, ground-camera footage, sound and editing can be combined with the aerial work when the project needs a complete tourism, event or business film rather than drone footage alone.

HAY-ON-WYE DRONE SERVICES

Aerial photography for property, events and tourism

From property and farms to tourism, festivals, construction and commercial filming, we provide practical aerial coverage around Hay-on-Wye and the Welsh Borders.

Hay is a particularly varied location for drone work: compact streets and busy visitor areas sit only minutes from open farmland, river meadows and larger rural sites, so the shot plan is tailored to the exact setting rather than treated as a generic countryside flight.

HAY-ON-WYE & THE WELSH BORDERS

Use the aerial view to establish the location

Hay is recognisable because the town, River Wye and surrounding countryside sit so close together. The strongest aerial usually explains that relationship rather than becoming a generic landscape shot.

Tourism and hospitality

Accommodation, bookshops, attractions and independent businesses can use aerial coverage to connect the venue with the town and wider border landscape.

Festivals and events

Event organisers can use controlled aerials to explain site scale and layout, with flights planned around crowd levels and the operational timetable.

Property, farms and estates

Wider stills can show access, fields, buildings and neighbouring features in one view, which is particularly useful for rural property and land.

Production and documentary work

Recognisable establishing shots, river sequences and landscape movements can be captured around the intended edit, with professional ground filming available when needed.

HAY-ON-WYE DRONE FAQ

Practical questions

Mini 5 Pro or Mavic 4 Pro?

The DJI Mini 5 Pro is particularly useful in congested or built-up settings such as the town centre, where its compact 249g-class design gives us greater operational flexibility while still producing professional high-resolution photography and 4K video.

For cinematic filming in wide-open spaces, the DJI Mavic 4 Pro is the stronger choice. Its larger camera system, 6K capability and additional telephoto perspectives suit estates, farms, the River Wye landscape and sweeping Welsh Borders establishing shots.

Can you fly in Hay town centre?

Potentially. Hay’s centre is compact and busy, so pedestrians, roads, shops, private property, the take-off position and current airspace information all affect what can be achieved.

Can you film Hay Festival?

Where the organiser, site and operating conditions allow it. Aerial coverage must be coordinated in advance and may be better captured during a controlled period rather than over active crowds.

Can you film the River Wye and The Warren?

Potentially. Riverside footage can be very effective, but take-off land, public paths, trees, wildlife and people using the river or meadow all affect the safe operating position.

Do you cover Clyro, Glasbury and farms?

Yes. Farms, estates, accommodation, construction and tourism projects can be covered around Hay and the wider Welsh Borders, with land access, livestock and neighbouring property considered before flight.

What if weather or event conditions change?

Wind, rain, visibility, crowd activity and temporary restrictions can all affect the plan. Where possible, we agree a workable filming window rather than forcing a flight that is unsafe or unlikely to produce useful material.
