Drone coverage can add stunning aerial perspectives to weddings, festivals, and outdoor events — but only when done safely and within UK law. At MJ Films, all flights are carried out by CAA-approved pilots, with operations tailored to meet both aviation regulations and venue permissions.

Key Legal Considerations for Event Filming

• Crowd safety – drones cannot be flown directly over people or large gatherings. Safe horizontal distances must be maintained from guests and the public.

• Drone categories – in some cases, a sub-249g drone may be used to reduce restrictions in built-up areas, though crowd overflight is still prohibited.

• Venue & landowner permissions – required before any flight. We liaise with venues in advance to ensure full compliance.

• Airspace checks – we assess each location for nearby airports, heli routes, or restricted zones and apply for authorisations where needed.

• Weather dependency – flights can only proceed in safe conditions (no heavy wind or rain).
